Arming the Donkeys this week features Nina Mazar, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Toronto. Nina and I speak about her research on psychological licensing, or how we may be more likely to cheat after doing something good.

The Honest Truth About Dishonesty: How We Lie to Everyone - Especially Ourselves

please stop sending e-mails to me!
Hi Ulrike,
At some point, you must have signed up to get the RSS feed of Arming the Donkeys, and that is why you are receiving emails about it. I do not have control over these automated notifications, as they originate from the iTunes store. You are not the only one who is having this issue, however, and I am doing my best to resolve the issue through iTunes as quickly as possible. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hey there Dan,
Looks like your in need of a new place to send that stuff he didnt like. Ill take it if your up to it. But if im forced to hear about what you could have done to make it work with U.M. than ill be no good to the discourse or research.
Glad I found this place. i’ll browse a bit and take a survey then maybe a bit of listening practice against your podcast.
Jason
Mac users are Predictably Irrational in that they choose to post their stuff on iTunes exclusively, because they forget that there are people who do not have iTunes. That’s what it’s like to be in the Apple cult.
I was thinking about all of your work in this area as I was walking by a church this Sunday. I woman was driving out of the church parking lot, presumably just after doing “something good.” I thought for sure, based on your findings, that she would let me walk by. I had the right of way to begin with, but also because of the psychological licensing effect.
Unfortunately, I was wrong. She looked right at me so I know she saw me, but she rolled forward, blocking my path, even though there were enough cars coming by on the road that she couldn’t continue anyway.
Of course, this could by psychological licensing in the other direction. Perhaps she spent her time in church thinking about all the bad things she has done recently and figured one more won’t hurt.
I have to give you thanks for this very useful post for adjustable piano bench. It can certainly help me as I go shopping for a piano bench meant for our grand piano..
