Birth announcement
I am delighted to announce the birth of Predictably Irrational.
Predictably Irrational was born after a rather long but mostly painless labor, and so far seems healthy and in good spirit. Predictably Irrational is largely orange and blue, but they tell me that this is normal (or at least acceptable).
At birth it is about 300 pages, and 9 x 6 x 1.1 inches.
They tell me that the next few weeks will be a lot of work around the clock, and sleepless nights. But as the proud father, I am looking forward to this next step.
Dan
It has been very interesting four years, and I am very grateful for everything that happened and changed since that day.

The Upside of Irrationality, explores some positive and some negative ways that irrationality plays out in our lives.

Congratulations Dan. It’s a great (and fun) book. When is #3 coming out?
Well its been 4 years since I fell in love with your work!! Can’t wait for the next book!
Wow! Congratulations! I remember when I discovered your work through VitalSmarts and the Influencer course. As a result, I read your books, signed up for your blog, became a fan on Facebook. I also got my husband and daughter to read your books as well. Happy state of being!
It’s one of the top ten books I’ve read in the past 5 years. I read it when it was first published and I’ve mentioned it in countless conversations since then. Thank you for inspiring me to look more deeply at human behavior.
Dan releases book. Global economy tanks.

(correlation/causation cartoon – and many more)
just reading the upside of irrationality now, Dr. A…will get to your first paper child soon enough!
All I have to say is GOD BLESS YOU DAN!
Wow, it’s already been 4 years ? Amazing — and one of my favorite books and one I often recommend in various discussions.
How “everything” has changed since that day? I missed the original birth announcement so thanks for sharing it. It made me smile!
I read PI a few years ago and it’s still one of my favorite books. It’s amazing how our minds can be influenced and tricked!
What a reason to celebrate. This book introduced me to behaviorial economics and ignited a passion for the subject. It’s principles have really helped me make better sense of the world.
Here’s to many more.
And today I just finished to read it! ( I discovered it few months ago and I bought it, in Spanish: “Las Trampas del Deseo”). I have just given it to my brother and my husband is the following. The second book (“Las ventajas del Deseo”) is waiting for me tonight. Thank you very much for such excitement!
I just received both books. My daughter Kristen has worked with you and raves about you. Looking forward to stepping into your world.
Congratulations, Dan! I’ve been a fan ever since.

Dan,
I’m a relatively recent convert. Many thanks for your unique insights, and look forward to reading more of your work going forwards.
Best wishes,

Congratulations on the birth anniversary of “Predictably Irrational”. Only the human species in the known universe have the knowledge of “rationality”; and thus enabled to indulge in “irrationality” also. And Dan Ariely, you are among the blessed few to divulge the distinction and predict the unrealized. Wish you well.
Your one of my favorite authors now, thank you so much for your wonderful insights. I’m looking forward to read your other books.
Great book! Lots of great insight. One question…can you fix the Door Game on your blog…the screen is just blank…
Congrats Dan! Can’t believe it has been that long. Hopefully the terrible two’s weren’t so bad. They say the teenage years are the toughest so check back with us in about 10 on that. Looking forward to the next one.
time waits for no man! got to know you through #1…and now #3 is coming! look forward :>
Instant classic in its field.
I’ve recommended it many times.
One question arose recently; are people “irrational” or “arrational” ? Irrational implies not being capable of being rational, while arrational suggests that people, though rational, ignore rational decisions in favor of emotional decisions and/or preconceived biases. Your thoughts?
Howard
Congratulations!
You just barely made it into the Piscean realm.
Dear Professor Ariely,
I am a Korean high school student. I was always interested in economics and psychology, and as I was googling to find some books about these fields, I found out your “The Upside of Irrationality”. After reading the book, I was totally fascinated with all the researches you made, and purchased your former book, “Predictably Irrational”, too. I just finished reading this one, too, and I stopped by this site to tell you how wonderful experience it was to me to read your books! Looking forward for your latest “The Honest Truth about Dishonesty”. Thank you a lot!
