PREDICTABLY IRRATIONAL SHORT STORY SERIES NO. 5
How are people’s judgments affected when they learn of shocking news? How do they see the world differently? Gordon Closter, a student of mine, explores this topic in the latest Predictably Irrational Short Story. It can be found here.

The Upside of Irrationality, explores some positive and some negative ways that irrationality plays out in our lives.

hello dan,
so i read your book cause i am very interest in that !
but reading the half of the book, i start thinking….
so i think there are two problems!
first, i miss so often the deep, the, i meen the irrational,
cause if you write people react like that, and all your studys
shows you, itz like that !ok, i know !! but there is no more in the deep.
second, ok, it seems like an more and more studys with the students in an AMERICAN university cosmos! and all your deepth to say ok please if you whant an girlfriend, do this or that.
i meen the world is mutch more complicater, so we can not reduce the world into structures we tested on harvard
university during sell out bonbons.
ok, it is a test, and it is a form of testing it, but do not reduce, and whow, we have what we whant to see.
the problem is, the world is irrational ever ! they shoot each other all over the world, ever. the problem is to handle thouse people, or handle myself cause i smoke, or whatever. we are irrational, and i belive thats a big thing.(look at big art)
and we have to know that, cause thats a potential to make experience whe would never miss!! and not to smooth-iron every kind of irrational, cause our study shows us we are like that, so we have to be, pleace, like an clean human robot. mother in law.
the whole problem is in between, you write, people are friendly, most of the time, but there are “things” in us (german english), we never know, and for one of us the irrational is good, like columbus, or what is the reason to sit in an rocket flying to the moon, so mutch fire on your ass. and some stupids doing so muth bad things with there irrationality! i dont know the reason.
i hope, may i am clear to say what i whant, its late in munic, and my english in complicated things is not very good.

Hello Dan i have read your book in Hebrew i am planning to gt it in English since there is irrationality in reading translated books
i wanted to address a specific topic in the book where you mentioned that people have no problems to cheat the insurance company and for that mater the banks and the tax authority’s I think you missed a very important issue and that is that all these institute are usually taking our money all the time and usually leave the public in a feeling that they have cheated us especially insurance and banks how many times did you rely got from the insurance money the full compensation you where expecting to receive and also lets say you never had any claims to them you cant escape the feeling that you have wasted your money for nothing. I think this is a major idea that’s makes it easier for somebody to cheat them. I consider myself a very moral person but for me to cheat the insurance if possible its an obligation knowing for sure that they have been cheating me before and no matter how much i cheat them it wont return me the money they have cheated away from me. The banks want us to feel we are family not only to gain our trust but maybe to undermine our feeling of being cheated. It is much more difficult to cheat from somebody who has done you well then from somebody you believe that has cheated you in the past. Maybe if the banks and insurance company could make the public believe they contribute the public in anyway then it will be more difficult for the public to try and cheat them.
I am from Israel and I believe you would have gotten a different results if you made your test here I think that every culture have different perspective of morals.
Great book
